Increase Business Value and Avoid Personal Liability
Protecting The Future – Protecting Your Hard Work
We all know that business is all going to be online in the near future, so being up to speed with these rules is going to be essential in order to just exist, let alone compete.
The sooner you start on that process, the sooner you will be fit for the future. And valuable.
Gain Competitive Advantage
Customers are becoming more aware of the issues and will start to look for signs of being compliant.
When people are shopping online, if the padlock and https signs are not there they won’t put their details in. It will become the same for all businesses, if they cannot show the signs that they have put in place GDPR systems and security that customers will go elsewhere. Those that can show things such as the DataGuardsman Privacy Seal will gain business.
There are other marks we enable you to obtain which will give competitive advantage, allow you to apply for Government contracts and obtain borrowing from banks.
Personal Liability Is Now the Biggest Risk
Each piece of personal data is a risk - and a competent director or business owner will assess those risks in line with the GDPR requirements, DataGuardsman walks you through this difficult aspect. Failure to assess these risks can leave directors open to personal liability.
That means their houses, cars, savings, shares and pensions are personally at risk.
The fine doesn’t have to be £18 million, for many businesses a fine of just £80,000 would put them out of business – and lose the directors their homes.
SOMEONE NEEDS TO OWN THIS IN THE BUSINESS
Every business, no matter what size, needs to have someone who is respoinsible for managing this aspect of business - it is now a central component of every trading business. It is just common sense.
It also helps when the Information Commissioner comes calling to be able to demonstrate that you have taken these obligations seriously and have someone who is the business expert who has implemented DataGuardsman. That is one of the things that will lower any fine the ICO issues against a business. Not being able to do this will increase the fine.
We have arranged with Hiscox to be able to pay up to £250,000 against fines from the Information Commissioners Office for breach of the GDPR rules if you have applied the DataGuardsman system and we have been wrong.
We are so confident that it works that our insurers are content to take that risk.
Our insurance does not, however, cover businesses outside the United Kingdom, Internet Service Providers or Telecoms providers, NHS or Local Authority or other government bodies or similar organisations. They can still use our system but we limit liability in all such cases and for all claims to the fees paid in the year of claim.
